New funds are available for the Trentino SMEs, startups, research and training centres thanks to the new partnership between the Trentino hub for innovation HIT and the Climate KIC, the European Knowledge and Innovation Community on climate change.  The KIC counts on a 85-million-euro budget and promotes the development of green projects and studies.

Michele Tosi, director of the Innovation and New Company Area of Trentino Sviluppo, has been appointed to the board of ACTION, the Association of Cleantech Incubators of New England, Massachussetts, USA. Another international recognition to the activity of Trentino Sviluppo, which demonstrates the high level of consideration reached by the system in the field of innovative startup business incubators.

Progetto Manifattura is the first cleantech-incubator certified in Italy. Today there are 100 incubators all over Italy, but only 26 of them have received the certification following the procedures of Unioncamere, the national Chamber of Commerce organisation. The certification has been based on the law 221 (known as “Decree for growth) of 2012 with the goal of incentivating the implementation of eccellence-incubators.

Unicredit’s Start Lab landed in Rovereto. A unique mentoring and venture capital platform for young start-ups, the aim of Start Lab is to discover the most promising young Italian hi-tech innovative companies and to support their growth through targeted investment and personalized business mentoring.

The European EMAS Award is the most prestigious award in environmental management and has been granted to top-performing EMAS registered companies and public authorities for outstanding environmental management achievements since 2005. The European Commission has revised the EMAS Awards to enhance the visibility for the winners and nominees. From 2014 onwards EMAS Awards will focus on “Effective eco-innovations supporting improvements in environmental performance”.

A number of companies that “grew up” at Progetto Manifattura – Italy’s first green economy hub – will be present at the Ecomondo trade show in Rimini this Nov. 6-9.

With their shared goal of accelerating the growth of cleantech startup companies, strengthening regional green technology clusters, and creating green jobs locally, Progetto Manifattura of Rovereto, Italy, and ACTION, the Association of Cleantech Incubators of New England have renewed their partnership agreement.

This September the city of Riva del Garda (TN) will host REbuild the national convention that will provide best practices, case studies, and experience that promise to transform Italy’s retrofit construction market.

On May 2 the presidents of the province of Tyrol (Austria), and the autonomous provinces of Alto Adige-Sudtirol and Trentino (Italy) signed a protocol in which they agreed that green buildings is an issue of primary importance for future cross-border collaboration between these three provinces. The goal of the accord is to create a virtual meta-cluster in support of green building that will make this Euregio of the "Europe of Regions" the European reference point for the sector.
