The chimney that we see today is the last of four chimneys that were at one time present at the factory in different periods. The chimneys were the dirty end of the energy production of the tobacco plant, which used large quantities of vapor to prepare tobacco. There were also facilities for heating and incineration.
In recent times, the present chimney was lowered by several meters due to instabiliity of the structure. Around 1990, the chimney was used for incineration purposes.
